Waterfoot Primary School Logo Competition

Waterfoot Primary School Logo Competition

Nine-year-old Waterfoot Primary School pupil Emily Coong was rewarded with an iPad Mini and £25 iTunes vouchers after winning the Rossendale Together Barnfield logo competition.

Pupils at the school were asked to design a logo for the new Whitwell Court development, formerly Mytholme House, and the children came up trumps with a lot of eye-catching and well thought out designs.

It was a hard job for the judging panel, which was made up of partners from the RTB board, but they chose Emily’s design which will be put onto the signage for the building.

The Together Housing Group mascot MONTE (Making Our Neighbourhoods Totally Excellent) leant a paw with Katie Gee, Corporate Officer from Rossendale Borough Council, to present Emily with her prize.

Whitewell Court is a 12-bedroom development for the over-55s, which has breathed new life into the centre of the town.

This is the first development by the Rossendale Together Partnership that is helping to regenerate Rossendale, which includes the Rawtenstall Masterplan.

Ian Clark, RTB Board member and Together Housing Group Head of Policy and Communications said:

“The standard of the entries was exceptionally high and we had a very difficult choice to make.

“But Emily’s colourful design really caught our eye and we all agreed she would be a worthy winner.”

Katie Gee from Rossendale Borough Council said

“We were overwhelmed by the engagement from all the staff and pupils at Waterfoot Primary and it has been a pleasure working with them. The standard of entries was superb and we had a real challenge on our hands getting it down to one winner. We thought the winning logo expressed the friendliness and warmth of Waterfoot as well as some of its distinguishing features. It was fantastic seeing all the pupils on the day we announced the winner.”
